Waynesville is a small village located in Southwest Ohio.

Waynesville is named for General “Mad” Anthony Wayne who opened the land for settlement through the Treaty of Greenville. Waynesville was founded in 1797 and was in the Northwest Territory until Ohio became a state in 1803. Samuel Heighway platted Waynesville similar to an English village with twelve squares of four acres each. The squares retain their names today with sign posts on each corner.

Today, the community is home to many unique organizations and businesses who are supported by the Waynesville Merchants Association, the Waynesville Area Chamber of Commerce, Warren County Convention & Visitors Bureau, Waynesville Historical Society, and many others.

The Antiques Capital of the Midwest

Waynesville is located at the crossroads of U. S. Route 42 and State Route 73. In the 1980s Waynesville became known as the Antiques Capital of the Midwest and became an antique lover’s dream place for shopping. Today, over 60 independently owned shops of various kinds and restaurants make Waynesville a great place to visit.
