DORA
Welcome to Waynesville’s New DORA District!
We’re excited to share some great news—Waynesville now has its very own Designated Outdoor Refreshment Area (DORA)! If you love exploring our charming town, this new enhancement is about to make your visits even more enjoyable.
What’s a DORA, you ask?
DORA stands for “Designated Outdoor Refreshment Area.” It means you can purchase an alcoholic beverage from participating establishments in Waynesville and then stroll through our beautiful streets while savoring your drink—all within the defined DORA boundaries. Imagine sipping on a refreshing beverage while shopping, enjoying the historic vibes of our town, or simply taking in the lively atmosphere.
Here’s how it works:
- Head to one of Waynesville’s participating establishments that serve alcohol and grab your favorite drink.
- If the shop you’re visiting allows beverages inside, you’re welcome to sip while you browse! Look for a notice near the shop’s entrance to see if they permit drinks inside.
- Enjoy the unique mix of historic charm, local shops, and warm community vibes that make Waynesville so special.
We’re thrilled to join over 180 other towns and cities across Ohio that have adopted a DORA district. It’s all about creating an engaging and vibrant experience for locals and visitors alike. Whether you’re here to shop, dine, or simply relax, the DORA district adds an exciting new element to Waynesville’s offerings.
Plan your visit today and raise a glass to Waynesville’s DORA! Cheers!
- A Designated Outdoor Refreshment Area, or DORA, is a specified area of land that a local legislative authority has designated as exempt from certain open container provisions as laid out in Ohio Revised Code Section 4301.82.
- Within the boundaries of the DORA, patrons can purchase an open beverage containing alcohol from an on-premises liquor permit holder, such as a bar or a restaurant, and leave the premises with the drink and continue consuming it.
